So you want to have a more Eastery site?

With the coming of Spring, Easter is inevitably knocking on the door to bring along scores of Easter eggs and bunnies. In these joyous times I bet everyone wishes for a more festive website to be able to showcase their spring mood.

Don’t fret boys and girls, I have you covered. This task proved more challenging than Christmafying your WordPress website as there aren’t that many WordPress plugins and Joomla Extensions about Spring and Easter. Nevertheless, I did the research so you don’t have to.

First off, you can always choose a new theme or template for your site that comes with dedicated Eastery look and feel like this Joomla 1.5 template or this Joomla 2.5 template. You can also use these wonderful spring-inspired WordPress themes: Tender Spring and Spring Song.

Finding photos and pictures you can use on your website is pretty easy as well, just go to photopin.com and browse through the hundreds of free-to-use images there. You even won’t need to change your theme if you find just the right images you can use on your existing website.

Using some of the plugins I recommended in my Christmas post is also a great idea. Plugins like the DW PopUp Card are pretty flexible and can be used for other situations. Just use an image of bunnies and eggs with a cheerful message, and you will have your own custom Eastery pop-up card greeting your visitors.

There is also an Easter Egg Hunt plugin you can implement on your website. Enhance your visitors’ experience by making them search for hidden Easter eggs and rewarding them for their efforts with a coupon code, hidden content, or whatever else you desire. Now this is what I call engaging.

While in the mood of redecorating, you can always go for a little bit of spring cleaning and remove the not needed stuff from your website. If you keep unused themes or templates, irrelevant draft posts, empty tags or categories, old revisions, get rid of them. Check your posts and pages for broken or missing links, thin out that bloated sidebar, and don’t forget to share this article with your friends.
