Drupal, like most CMS applications uses blocks to differentiate separate regions of content. Blocks are different sections on your website where you can put your website materials. Your site’s header, footer, sidebars etc. represent different blocks of your Drupal.
By default Drupal comes with the major blocks already setup and you can manage them from your Dashboard -> Structure -> Blocks .
