How to transfer emails from GoDaddy?

Unlike most hosting providers GoDaddy does not provide cPanel with every hosting account. This means that in order to transfer emails from GoDaddy you have to follow a more complicated procedure than doing so from another provider, which uses WHM or cPanel. Although the emails can be exported in a CVS file format, they cannot be restored within the cPanel.

However, we at WebHostFace have a way around this complication. Here are the steps on how to transfer your emails from GoDaddy to WebHostFace.

  1. Create the email addresses in the cPanel of your WebHostFace account.
  2. Install a local email client on your computer (Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, etc.)
  3. Configure the email address, for instance me@domain.com, with the settings of GoDaddy (you can find those settings in your GoDaddy account)
  4. When configuring your email account, set it to work with POP3
  5. Configure the same email account – me@domain.com – but with WebHostFace settings. You can find those in your cPanel, in your Welcome email or if you are still not sure, just contact us for guidance
  6. This time set the email address to work with IMAP, so that the emails are also copied on the server. In case your mailbox is over the limit (500MB for Face Standard and 750MB for Face Extra) use POP3*
  7. Transfer emails by dragging the content of each folder from the first me@domain.com to the second.
  8. You can now delete the email account with GoDaddy. We advice you double check if you have transferred all emails you need before deleting the email setup.

*Note: Email accounts set to work with POP3 will only be saved on your local computer, but not on the server. This means that they will not be visible via webmail or any other device than the one on which you have configured them.
