Why do I receive an SSL warning when accessing my cPanel?

While attempting to open your cPanel, you will see an SSL warning that the certificate on this website is not trusted. Different browsers display this error differently, but its sources are practically the same. The cPanel software allows to access it securely via SSL and insecurely without SSL and going through an SSL connection is the much better option. That is why we have installed a Self-signed SSL certificate for each customer’s cPanel which has up to 128bits of encryption.

So, why do most browsers throw that scary-looking error? The answer is that each browser checks if the SSL certificate is digitally signed by an “Authorized SSL Vendor” and in our case the SSL warning appears because its Self-signed, and it displays the above message. Although the warning looks alarming, there is no reason to think that your cPanel is insecure as the connection is encrypted.
